Prof. Chan obtained his PhD degree in physics from Princeton University. He has worked Thomas J. Watson Research Center/IBM (1974-1976), Queen’s University of Canada (1997-1980), Goddard Space Flight Center/NASA (1980-1994), and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (1994-2015).
(Unofficial Bio) Dr. Wong spent his entire career so far at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology. He was in charge of the engineering effort of the Cassini-Huygens spacecrafts that crush at Saturn in 2018, delivering the Huygens probe to its Titan landing in 2005. He is now with the Mars Science Laboratory as the Chief Mission Engineer responsible for developing four land sites in Mars for the Curiosity Rover.
Paul's practice focuses on advising domestic and international clients on mergers, acquisitions, investments, divestitures and other corporate transactions. He has worked on engagements in a broad range of industries, including technology, media, financial services and healthcare including Alibaba.com, Dell Inc., Groupon, Ping An Venture Capital, etc.
NxEra leverages inter-cloud technology to integrate and build new business models for enterprises (see a recent news clip on the development here). Prior to founding NxEra, HL has worked at various strategic roles in Foxconn and Apple Computer.
Cherrypicks has represented Hong Kong and China in many world stages and won over 100 local and international awards. The early entrepreneurial journey of the company was also featured as a Harvard Business School case study (#N9-807-106). Prior to founding Cherrypicks in 2000, Jason was a Director for Global High Tech and Telecom Practice at Deloitte Consulting in Toronto and Hong Kong.
Kenneth regularly advices clients on cross border transactions involving technology, IP and intangible assets. Before moving back to Asia in 1999, he was in private practice in the US for more than a decade. He had also served as general counsel and was co-founder of an international technology company. His broad experience allows him to view clients concerns from both the client and the legal advisor’s perspective.
Mr. Joseph FAN
Mr. Fan held a number of important positions in cable and communication companies including Taiwan Fixed Network Company, Taiwan Mobile, Hutchison Telecom Group, etc. Mr. Fan received numerous awards and honors through his distinguish career including Business Week - Star of Asia, Asia Money – Leadership for Best Managed Company, and Private Equity Deal of the Year.
Ian has a broad and rich experience in technology start-up and management. He founded XNET Technology in Silicon Valley. Later on, he founded China e-Law, a web-publiching service for Chinese Law for the legal professionals and SME markets overseas. Ian was also the co-inventor of SCSI and Chinef Engineer of the Titan RISC project at DEC and he was the VP of Engineering at Hughes Network Systems.
Dr. Ieong joined ASTRI as Chief Technology Officer in January 2016. Before his appointment, Dr. Ieong has held various leadership positions in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company and IBM Research. He holds a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Massachusetts, Amherst and an MBA degree from the MIT Sloan Fellows Program at MIT School of Management
Dr. Liao holds a B.Sc. degree from the California Institute of Technology in Physics in 1967 and an M.A. and Ph.D. degree in Applied Physics from Harvard University. While teaching in CUHK, Dr. Liao founded Varitronix, the first LCD manufacturer in the world. Dr. Liao has served and still serves on several academic and industrial committees for the Hong Kong community including the Council of the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications.
Dr. Yuen has developed a number of pioneering internet & telecom services including the World's first commercial retirement planning web service (Morningstar, Chicago, 1999), a unique TV-web synchronized broadband content service (PCCW, Hong Kong, 2000), a convergent billing-order management platform in Hong Kong (PCCW-HKT, Hong Kong, 2003) and first commercial home telehealth service in Hong Kong based on m2m, B2B and B2C linkup to cloud (2011). Currently he is focused on big data and deep learning commercialization for ICT.
Throughout the years, Wilson led the TFI team to achieve excellent results, including APICTA 2015 – Grand Award in Media & Entertainment, HK Awards for Industries 2015 – Technological Achievement, World Summit Award 2015 – National Winner of China region in e-Business & Commerce, HKICT Awards 2015 – Best Business Solution Grand Award and Product Gold Award, 2014 Best SME ICT Grand Award and Gold Award etc. His contribution to the ICT industry and the society led him to be the 100 most influential people in Hong Kong – Technology & Digital category awarded by the Debrett’s 100 Hong Kong and the winner of Innovative Entrepreneur Award by JCI City Junior Chamber in 2015.
